His mother was just barely able to plan future meals by carefully keeping a record of the food her son consumed. Here is a partial list from when Ignatius was six years old:

  • 2 doz. griddle cakes
  • 14 lbs. kale, raw
  • 12 lbs. kale, cooked
  • 1 head kale (snack)
  • 2 2/3 wheel of cheese
  • 23 oranges, juice of
  • 18 lbs pork liver (and assorted offal)
  • 1 unfortunate mouse
